Introduction to the principle of enameled wire


Enameled wire is a major type of winding wire, consisting of a conductor and an insulating layer.
After the bare wire is annealed and softened, it is painted and baked multiple times. But it is not easy to produce products that meet both standard requirements and customer requirements. Enameled wire is affected by raw material quality, process parameters, production equipment, environment and other factors. Therefore, the quality characteristics of various enameled wires vary.


Enameled wire generally has four major properties: mechanical properties, chemical properties, electrical properties and thermal properties.
General-purpose enameled wire (ordinary wire): mainly used as winding wire in general motors, electrical appliances, instruments, transformers and other workplaces. Such as polyester enameled wire, modified polyester enameled wire.
Heat-resistant enameled wire: mainly used for winding wires in motors, electrical appliances, instruments, transformers and other workplaces operating at temperatures of 180°C and above. Such as polyesterimide enameled wire, polyimide enameled wire, polyester enameled wire, polyesterimide/polyamideimide composite enameled wire.
Special-purpose enameled wire: refers to a winding wire that has certain quality characteristics and is used in specific occasions. Such as: polyurethane enameled wire (direct weldability), self-adhesive enameled wire.

Process flow: Pay-off→annealing→painting→baking→cooling→lubrication→take-up
Enameled wire is the main raw material for products such as motors, electrical appliances and household appliances. After the product is manufactured, whether its appearance, size and performance meet the technical standards of the product and the requirements of the user’s technical agreement must be judged through inspection.
After measurement, testing, and comparison with the product’s technical standards or the user’s technical agreement, if the product meets the requirements, it is qualified; otherwise, it is unqualified. Through inspection, it can reflect the stability of the enameled wire product quality and the rationality of the material and process. Therefore, quality inspection plays the role of control, prevention and identification. The content of enameled wire inspection includes: inspection and measurement of appearance, size and performance test.

The appearance should be smooth, uniform in color, free of particles, and free of oxidation, hair, yin and yang surfaces, black spots, paint peeling and other defects that affect performance. Secondly, the cable should be wound evenly and tightly on the reel, without any pressure, and can be retracted and released freely. There are many factors that affect the surface, which are related to raw materials, equipment, technology, environment and other factors.
