Polyester magnet wire is typically made using a base conductor, usually copper or aluminum, coated with a layer of polyester resin. The manufacturing process involves:

Annealing – The wire is softened to improve flexibility and conductivity.

Enameling – A polyester-based insulation is applied in multiple layers.

Curing – The enamel coating is cured to enhance adhesion and durability.

Limitations

Despite its advantages, polyester magnet wire has some limitations:

Moderate Temperature Limitations. Not suitable for extreme heat applications beyond its rated temperature. Lower thermal class than polyimide (Class H: 180°C).

Limited Chemical Compatibility. Certain aggressive solvents can degrade the insulation.

Mechanical Flexibility. Though durable, excessive bending may cause insulation cracks over time. It is recommended to change it in time.
